I love seeing the edge of a deep canvas. However sometimes a painting needs a visual containment in the form of a frame. I usually frame smaller paintings for this reason, leaving my larger canvases as they are. Here are a few examples of my paintings that have been framed in Brighton ahead of my Artist Open House in December.
I tend to opt for tray frames in white or oak with my canvases. Or choose a natural wood painted or washed to match a colour in the painting. Usually an off white or pale grey.
My painting ' What we talk about' (2024) is an oil on canvas meausuring 50cm x 50cm.
The white tray frame by A Frame in Hove, works beautifully with the colours of the canvas.
