Jacksons Art Prize 2025 extended longlist

17 March 2025 . Two of my paintings ' I watched from the river bank' and 'Summer' have been selected for the extended long list in the Jackson's Art prize 2025.

I'm delighted as there were 12,964 entries from 129 countries so I made it into the 25% of artists (3,168 works) that are through to the next stage.

'I watched from the river bank,' oil on canvas, 120cm x 100cm, 2024 is a contemporary abstract landscape, inspired by my love of Exmoor - in particular the river Exe that I have known since childhood and a place I now take my own three sons.

'Summer,' oil on canvas, 100cm x 100cm, 2024 is an abstract expressionist piece full of gestural movement. It was inspired by a particular place in Andalucia, Spain. I wanted to capture the memories and the feeling - the conversations, the heat, the nature and the terracotta glow of the buildings in the light.
